Have you ever wondered why this entire time humanity has existed, we have not discovered any extraterrestrial life yet? There are millions of galaxies that contain millions of stars, each with dozens of planets and moons… So why is it that all we’ve heard is silence?

The great filter is a theory that says there is a difficult wall (or more) in the process from a bare, lifeless planet to a technologically advanced civilization. If that wall is behind us, that is great news. It means we are one of the first civilizations to reach our current level of technology.

However, if the wall is ahead of us, that is bad news. It means there is unknown danger with the capability of wiping most of us out approaching. This evolution barrier could have possibly been responsible for the death of other alien civilizations, and we are next.
